Karisue and Ricky Nelson’s Story

Karisue and Ricky Nelson lived in their Quail Valley home for 27 years. “It’s the house our kids grew up in,” says Karisue. “We made the very hard decision to sell it for quality of life reasons. We are getting older and all of our bedrooms were upstairs. I’ve had a knee replacement surgery and other surgeries…and it was hard. We really needed a one story.”

The Nelsons met KW (Keller Williams) Southwest agent Sharon Parker last year at an event in Missouri City. “Sharon had a booth, and we just talked to her for a while,” says Karisue. “We could tell she was very knowledgeable and knew the real estate business. Now if you would have told us then that we would be putting our home on the market and buying a house this year, we would have said, ‘No way!’ But things change and when we made this difficult decision, we remembered Sharon and called her to help us.”

Sharon helped stage the Nelsons home before putting it on the market. “She was very sensitive to the fact that cost saving was a priority…we needed our funds for our next home purchase,” says Karisue. “We did everything Sharon advised, including Open Houses on back to back weekends. We were very pleased with the traffic through our house and the marketing strategy. Sharon was with us from the beginning to closing. Like most people, we wanted to know how much we would make. When we got our check in hand, the number was within $400 of Sharon’s estimate. I was impressed it was so accurate!”

For their new home, Karisue and Ricky were open to both buying or building. Karisue says, “Sharon got to know our personalities and recommended a neighborhood she thought we would really like. It’s oversized lots and they had a great one story floor plan we could build. It was a good fit all around! Our new home won’t be ready until mid October, so Sharon found us an apartment and worked out a deal where we could go month to month. We ended up not using it–a friend had a rental house we could live in–but we really appreciated her taking care of us!”

“We highly recommend Sharon and KWSW. She is very professional and has a personality that allows you to talk to her when you have concerns. Our new yard has an existing tree that is leaning. We thought it might be a hazard and expressed our concerns to Sharon. She did the legwork with the HOA and the builder and the tree is being removed. She just makes everything work smoothly!”
